ABOUT
KAMOJANG EAGLE CONSERVATION CENTER.
Hope for the survival of eagles, including the Javanese eagle, came back in 2014.
In 2014, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy in collaboration with West Java BBKSDA and the Indonesian Raptor Forum initiated the formation of the Kamojang Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK). The Kamojang Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK) is located in the Kamojang area, Samarang District, Garut Regency, West Java. This area is also one of the migration sites for eagles. The Kamojang Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK) has international standard conservation facilities. In these facilities there are Information Center, Work Station, Guard Post, Quarantine Enclosure, Observation Enclosure, Rehabilitation Enclosure, Flying Training Enclosure, and an Educational Display Enclosure. In addition, habitat improvement was also carried out by reforesting 20,000 trees, generating 1,095 watts of microhydro electricity, and using LED lights.
Not only the Javanese Eagle, there are other types of eagles that are being rehabilitated in this conservation. Starting from Changeable hawk-eagle, Black-winged kite, Black eagle. From 122 eagles rehabilitated, 29 were handed over to The Kamojang Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK) by the residents. A total of 22 eagles were successfully released. *INDAH
