PGE Strengthens Its Position as a Leading Geothermal Innovator, Flow2Max® Ready for Global Market with Ecolab

Jakarta, December 6, 2025 – PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) affirmed its role as a leading innovator in Indonesia's geothermal industry. Together with Ecolab, PGE officially launched Flow2Max®, the world's first two-phase measurement technology, now integrated with 3D TRASAR™ Technology to strengthen geothermal operations monitoring and automation. The launch, held in Jakarta on Tuesday (December 2nd), marked the beginning of Flow2Max®'s commercialization for the international market, making it a national innovation ready to compete in the global energy industry.

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk's Operations Director, Ahmad Yani, stated that this innovation brings PGE into a new phase as a geothermal technology innovator.

"The collaboration with Ecolab confirms that PGE not only produces clean energy but also strengthens the geothermal value chain through innovation. This technology is a crucial step toward Indonesia becoming a global center of geothermal excellence, while also opening up opportunities for global expansion for national innovation. The initial rollout will begin in Southeast Asia through a pilot project in Indonesia and expand to the Philippines. This technology is also designed for mass production and export, in line with PGE's vision of becoming a world-class green energy company," he said.

The launch of this technology has also received praise from the government. Gigih Udi Atmo, Director of Geothermal Energy at the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, emphasized that innovations such as Flow2Max®–3D TRASAR™ are crucial elements in supporting Indonesia's significant leap in the geothermal sector.

"This innovation by PGE and Ecolab is crucial to attract investment, increase local content (TKDN), and ensure the continued development of geothermal technology. The government fully supports PGE and Ecolab's collaborative efforts to strengthen Indonesia's geothermal industry going forward," said Gigih.

Flow2Max®: A Global Breakthrough from Indonesia

Flow2Max® is a technology developed by Mohamad Husni Mubarok, a PGE officer who currently serves as Manager of Production & Operation Excellence. This technology enables real-time measurement of the mass flow rate and enthalpy of two-phase fluids without the need to stop well production, a breakthrough that had not been achieved in the global geothermal industry for decades.

Husni's journey in creating Flow2Max® technology began in 2008, when he had just joined PGE in the Sibayak Area, North Sumatra. He was challenged to create a tool that could measure geothermal mass flow rate and enthalpy in real time.

"Until now, there has been no technology capable of measuring mass flow and enthalpy in real time. Today, we have proven that a solution that was once considered impossible is finally possible through Flow2Max®," said Husni.

Flow2Max® enables fast and accurate investigation of well anomalies without stopping operations. This superiority is what has enabled Flow2Max® to now hold patents in six countries: Indonesia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Iceland, the United States, and Turkey, signaling its readiness to become a geothermal technology product that can be marketed internationally.

The presence of Flow2Max®? marks the birth of world-class technology from Indonesia for the world. Together with Ecolab, PGE affirms its commitment to driving the geothermal industry towards more efficient, sustainable, and globally competitive operations.
