Indonesia sits in the Ring of Fire, and thus is one of the world’s geothermal energy centers. We embarked on this journey of geothermal energy utilization in 1974, upon the discovery of 70 geothermal areas in Indonesia. PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) was established in 2006 to continue the efforts to produce clean and environmentally friendly energy, and as of now has contributed 82% of the installed geothermal energy capacity in Indonesia.
To provide energy for a greener future is an unfaltering endeavor. PGE is committed to the continuous development of existing geothermal resources by adhering to the principles of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). As of today, PGE has supplied electricity to more than 2 million households in Indonesia with a potential emission reduction of 9.7 million tCO2 per year.
