PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) has once again achieved impressive national success. At the 2025 Subroto Awards Night, hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), PGE won two top awards for innovation in the fields of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) and the Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) in the geothermal sector.
The awards ceremony, which was also attended by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, emphasized the government's support for accelerating the energy transition and increasing the competitiveness of the national energy industry. PGE's presence at the event is clear evidence of the geothermal sector's contribution to supporting the government's clean and sustainable energy policy direction.
In this prestigious event, PGE's Lumut Balai Area won first place in the Geothermal Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Innovation category with its innovation titled "Pioneer Implementation of PSAIMS (Process Safety & Asset Integrity Management System) for Process Safety Transformation in Geothermal Power Plants." Meanwhile, PGE's Lahendong Area won first place in the Geothermal Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) category through various flagship programs focused on improving the welfare and social resilience of communities surrounding its operations.
PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk President Director Julfi Hadi said, "This award recognizes the commitment and hard work of all PGE employees across its operations. We believe that innovation in occupational safety, environmental preservation, and community empowerment are essential components of our corporate culture. All of these serve as the foundation for PGE's continued growth as a world-class green energy company capable of driving the economy and improving people's lives."
Julfi also emphasized that optimal implementation of OHS is the foundation for safe and high-quality operations, while also promoting business continuity and sustainable positive impacts.
"For us at PGE, success is not only measured by how much energy we produce, but by how we ensure every process runs safely and responsibly. 2024 marks a significant milestone, achieving zero fatalities with more than 5.5 million working hours without incident. We believe every worker deserves to go home safely. We continue to maintain this spirit by consistently implementing a culture of safety and health across all our operations," he continued.
The PSAIMS innovation, developed by the PGE Lumut Balai Area team, is the first system in the Indonesian geothermal industry to integrate HAZOP analysis, Major Accident Hazard (MAH) identification, and Safety and Environmental Critical Element (SECE) management to ensure comprehensive process safety. By establishing performance standards based on the FARSI (Functionality, Availability, Reliability, Survivability, and Interdependency) principles, this system has proven effective in improving critical equipment reliability and reducing the risk of major accidents. PSAIMS has also successfully reduced Loss of Production Opportunity (LPO) due to process safety failures from 66% to 9.95%, with potential savings of up to IDR 60 billion.
Meanwhile, the PGE Lahendong Area excels with various innovative social programs aimed at improving the welfare of communities surrounding its operations. These programs include the Setor Jo Waste Bank, Yaki Wildlife Conservation, the "Katrili" Agricultural Booster Innovation from Silica Sediment, and the Andikpas Program (empowerment of prison inmates). All of these initiatives prioritize a vulnerability-based approach for beneficiaries, thereby increasing community confidence, independence, and sustainable well-being.
These achievements in the K3 and PPM categories also reflect PGE's consistency in implementing sustainability principles throughout its operations. With a total installed capacity of 1,932 megawatts (MW) and contributing approximately 70% of the national geothermal capacity, PGE continues to play a strategic role in supporting the national energy transition and achieving Indonesia's 2060 Net Zero Emission target.
