PGE's commitment to creating a positive impact on society and the environment was recognized with the 2025 ESG Appreciation Award from B-Universe in the Environment & Sustainability category, received in Jakarta on Thursday (November 20, 2025).

Edwil Suzandi, Director of Exploration and Development at PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk, expressed his appreciation for this award. He emphasized that as a world-class green energy company, PGE not only provides clean energy-based electricity but is also committed to addressing various economic, social, and environmental challenges.

"In line with the government's Asta Cita vision of realizing a sustainable energy transition, we continue to strive to place society and the environment at the center of every PGE business step. We believe that PGE's presence in various regions in Indonesia must provide tangible added value to surrounding communities. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen this responsibility so that PGE can become a benchmark for implementing sustainability practices across all business lines, so that the benefits can be felt more widely," he said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (November 25, 2025).

The 2025 ESG Appreciation Award in the Environment & Sustainability category was awarded based on three assessment aspects: contribution to carbon emission reduction, the number of environmentally friendly innovations from 2024 to 2025, and the number of environmental complaints reported related to the company's activities. Based on the evaluation conducted by LSP GRC, the research team, and the B-Universe editorial team, PGE was deemed superior across all indicators.

In terms of carbon emission reduction, PGE has generated 4,827.22 gigawatt hours (GWh) of low-carbon electricity, while avoiding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of up to 4,051,167.79 tons of CO2eq, 95.23% lower than emissions from fossil fuel plants. PGE's emission intensity also decreased 6.72% from the 2020 baseline to 41.04 grams of CO2eq/kWh, supported by the implementation of the Company's decarbonization program. Decarbonization initiatives from operational activities reduced emissions from scopes one and two by 11,817.72 tons of CO2eq.

In the environmental innovation category, PGE has developed various environmentally friendly solutions, such as Geo-Fert geothermal-based organic fertilizer, built a green hydrogen pilot plant in Ulubelu, and achieved water efficiency improvements of up to 63.58 megaliters across PGE's areas, as well as strengthened waste management. PGE successfully achieved a 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recovery) level of 54.05% for hazardous waste and 61.08% for non-hazardous waste, resulting in a reduction in waste generation of 6.41 tons. PGE also manages 19 conservation areas encompassing more than 1,335 species of flora and fauna. Throughout the assessment period, no environmental complaints were received regarding the company's activities.

PGE currently holds the highest ESG rating in Indonesia, with a score of 7.1 from Sustainalytics. PGE is the only Indonesian company included in the Top 50 Global ESG Companies 2025 list. This rating confirms PGE's ability to effectively manage and mitigate material ESG risks. This places PGE among the companies with the lowest ESG risk levels in the renewable energy and utilities subsectors globally.

In addition, PGE was also selected as a constituent of the IDX KEHATI ESG Sector Leaders Index (ESGSKEHATI) for the period September 1 to November 28, 2025. This index periodically evaluates issuers to ensure that only companies with superior ESG standards are retained.

The 2025 ESG Awards are held by B-Universe to recognize public and private institutions that consistently implement sustainability principles. The assessment is conducted independently using qualitative and quantitative research standards to maintain objectivity. The evaluation process involves the Datasatu.com research team, the B Universe editorial team, and Jerry Marmen's independent team.
