JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) has again maintained its achievements at the 2020 Company Performance Rating Program Award in Environmental Management (PROPER). PGE Kamojang Area - West Java again won PROPER Gold 10 times in a row from 2011 to 2020.
The highest PROPER Gold award witnessed by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin and handed over by the Minister of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Siti Nurbaya to the award recipients at the Manggala Wanabakti Auditorium, Central Jakarta, Monday (14/12).
In her remarks, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya conveyed that the PROPER 2020 assessment added criteria for sensitivity and company responsiveness to disasters in the aspect of community empowerment.
"The criteria for assessing the sensitivity and responsiveness of companies to disasters in community empowerment are one of which is that companies are encouraged to increase empowerment of communities that have been fostered and develop new guidance in disaster-affected areas in order to assist efforts in the context of restoring life in the community and can long-term, "said Siti.
The PROPER 2020 award is a form of appreciation from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for companies that have complied with laws and regulations in the field of controlling environmental pollution and damage, as well as managing hazardous and toxic waste, implementing best practices in the field of environmental management and consistently playing a role in community empowerment .
The 10th gold proper was successfully maintained by the PGE Kamojang Area with a flagship CSR program in the form of support in the development of the Rangers App as a form of community empowerment through a local online motorcycle taxi application in Kamojang and efforts to support the spirit of change from punk kids so that they no longer live on the streets and can live independently through the Wani Robah program. In handling COVID19, PGE has developed the flagship program Sabilulungan Masyarakat Ibun Saling Help, abbreviated as SAMBIL SALTO, where this program is a form of synergy between PGE and its fostered partners in the response to COVID19.

Not only Gold, on this occasion PGE also won 2 Green PROPER through the Lahendong - North Sulawesi and Ulubelu - Lampung areas 4 times in a row from 2017, as well as Blue PROPER for Sibayak Area - North Sumatra and Karaha Area - West Java .
Company Performance Rating Program, hereinafter referred to as PROPER, is an assessment program of the efforts of the person in charge of a business and or activity to control environmental pollution and or damage (Article 1 Paragraph (1) Decree of the Minister of Environment (KepMenLH) Number: 127 / MENLH / 2002 concerning Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management.
PROPER is one of the policy tools developed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in order to encourage compliance with business and / or activity people in charge of various laws and regulations in the environmental sector, through "information instruments" by involving society actively. Therefore, PROPER is closely related to the dissemination of information on the compliance performance of each company to all stakeholders on a national scale.
PGE currently manages 14 Geothermal Working Areas, in which 1877 MW of geothermal electricity has been generated, consisting of 672 MW which is operated solely by PGE and 1205 MW managed through a Joint Operation Contract.
The installed geothermal capacity in the PGE Working Area contributes around 88% of the total installed geothermal capacity in Indonesia, with the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by around 9.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year.
