PGE Lahendong Area and Minahasa Regency Government, Synergy for Accelerating COVID-19 Vaccination

At the moment of the end of 2021, PGE Lahendong Area is enthusiastic about supporting the acceleration of equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations in Minahasa Regency. In collaboration with the Minahasa Regency Government, this vaccination acceleration was carried out in several locations for 3 consecutive days from 29-31 December 2021.

As of December 31, 2021, 315 residents in 6 sub-districts, namely East Tondano, West Tondano, South Tondano, North Tondano, Kawangkoan and Pineleng sub-districts have received the first dose of vaccine.

Ahmad Yani, General Manager of PGE Lahendong Area, said that the support and synergy with the Minahasa Regency Government in accelerating this vaccination is a real ongoing support for PGE in supporting the Indonesian government's vaccination program. "We, as the leading geothermal energy company in Indonesia, remain focused on handling the pandemic. This vaccination acceleration activity is to increase the distribution of vaccinations in the community, with the hope that the vaccine will be more evenly distributed, healthier and more resilient together."

This vaccination acceleration activity was carried out on a mobile basis by the Minahasa District Health Office in several sub-district locations above, accompanied by the provision of gifts for vaccine recipients. This is done to increase the participation rate of vaccination participants.

Wenny Talumewo, Economic Assistant of the Minahasa Regional Secretariat as one of the Coordinators of the acceleration of vaccination activities, conveyed "Appreciation to PGE Lahendong Area, which since the beginning of the pandemic has remained active in synergy with the district government in activities to handle the pandemic to vaccination. Next year we will increase this synergy again to expand the benefits for the Minahasa community."

In running its business, PGE continues to be committed to geothermal development and ensures the implementation of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) to become an integrated part of PGE's geothermal business. The implementation of these ESG aspects is an effort to provide added value and support PGE to government programs related to the use of new, renewable energy that is environmentally friendly, especially geothermal.

In addition, the development of geothermal energy supply carried out by PGE is also a form of PGE's support and commitment in achieving sustainable development, especially the 7th goal (clean and affordable energy), 12 (responsible construction and production), 13 (climate change management), and 15 (land ecosystems) in the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

All workers and partners, including their families in the PGE Lahendong Area, have their vaccination rate at 100% in November 2021. This is done by PGE solely for the benefit of workers, business partners and families, but also for the benefit of supplying electricity for the people of North Sulawesi and Gorontalo.

PGE Lahendong Area with a generating capacity of 120 MW has supported approximately 28% of the electricity needs of the people in North Sulawesi and Gorontalo from environmentally friendly energy sources, namely geothermal energy. Indonesia itself is currently ranked second in geothermal development in the world with a total installed capacity of 2,133 MW, and the contribution from the PGE Working Area is 88 percent of the total installed geothermal capacity in Indonesia, which consists of 672 MW which is self-operated and 1,205 MW. carried out through Joint Operation Contracts.
