PGE Receives Forestry Minister's Award for More Than a Decade of Javan Hawk-eagle Conservation

Jakarta, December 15, 2025 – PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) continues to demonstrate its commitment to preserving the environment and biodiversity. One of these efforts is through conservation efforts for the endemic Javan Hawk-eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi) through the Kamojang Hawk-eagle Conservation Center (PKEK) in Kamojang, West Java, established in 2014. For this consistent support, PGE received the Minister of Forestry Award during the "Three Decades of Javan Hawk-eagle Conservation" event held in Bogor on Friday (December 12, 2025).

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk's Operations Director, Ahmad Yani, stated that this award serves as a reminder of the importance of long-term collaboration in preserving Indonesia's endemic wildlife.

"PGE goes beyond operational aspects to contribute to the preservation of the environment and biodiversity surrounding our operational areas. Since its inception, PKEK has rehabilitated more than 350 eagles from various regions in Indonesia. Of these, 153 have successfully completed the rehabilitation process and been released back into the wild. In addition to serving as a wildlife rescue center, PKEK also actively develops environmental education for the public, students, and stakeholders to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining ecosystem balance," he said.

PGE's ongoing support for medical facilities, research activities, and post-release monitoring has enabled PKEK to develop as an example of cross-sector collaboration in the conservation of the Javan Hawk-eagle and its habitat. In collaboration with the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (Balai Besar KSDA) and Raptor Indonesia, PKEK runs a rehabilitation and recovery program for confiscated eagles, those handed over by the community, or victims of human-human conflict, so they can return to their natural habitat sustainably.

This consistent commitment is reflected in the success of PKEK in PGE's Kamojang Area, which has achieved the Gold PROPER rating for 14 consecutive years, making PGE the only company to achieve this.

This spirit of sustainability was also reflected in the series of events "Three Decades of Javan Hawk-Eagle Conservation" with the theme "Wandering the Archipelago in the Sky," held at the IPB Convention Center in Bogor on December 11–12, 2025. This exhibition featured documentation of conservation journeys, photographic works, and various educational information regarding the role of the government, conservation institutions, organizations, and the community in preserving the Javan Hawk-Eagle and its natural habitat.

The Javan Hawk-Eagle, whose resemblance inspired the Indonesian national symbol, the Garuda, is a protected species as stipulated in Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number P.106 of 2018. This regulation underpins PGE's commitment to supporting wildlife conservation through the establishment and management of the Kamojang Hawk-Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK).
