Bandung, February 13, 2026 — PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE) (IDX: PGEO) Kamojang Area has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation and improving community preparedness. This commitment was demonstrated through the "Eling Balai: Disaster Education" Program for students at MTs and MA Wihdatul Fikri in Ibun District, Bandung Regency, West Java. This educational activity was held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Dipa Building of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk Kamojang Area, Bandung Regency, Garut, West Java.
The Eling Balai Program is a disaster education and training initiative aimed at fostering a culture of risk awareness from an early age. The program utilizes a hall or shared space as a center for preparedness learning, emergency response simulations, and strengthening the capacity of the younger generation in facing potential disasters. Through the Eling Balai Program, students are equipped with an understanding of disaster risks in their area, proper evacuation steps, panic management, and principles of self-rescue and self-rescue. This program aims to develop a resilient, alert young generation capable of becoming preparedness agents in schools and communities.
Hendrik Kurniawan Sinaga, HSSE Manager for the Kamojang PGE Area, stated that this program is part of the company's commitment to creating shared value between the company and the community. "Disaster education is a long-term investment in building a culture of risk awareness from an early age. Through collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and schools, we want to ensure that the younger generation has the correct understanding, does not panic when a disaster occurs, and is able to carry out independent evacuations safely and in a coordinated manner," he said.
The event featured Yanti Nurwanti, Head of the Prevention and Preparedness Division of the Garut Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as a resource person. She presented an overview of disaster risks in Garut Regency.
"With a population of 2.8 million people and a mountainous and coastal region, as well as active volcanoes such as Mount Guntur and Papandayan, Garut Regency is a multi-disaster region, with potential for earthquakes, landslides, and hydrometeorological disasters," Yanti explained.
In their presentation, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) also explained that Garut Regency's Disaster Risk Index for 2025 was 133.79 (moderate risk class), ranking 6th in West Java, with a Regional Resilience Index of 0.75 (4th in West Java).
A total of 120 students from Wihdatul Fikri Islamic Junior High School (MTs) and Islamic Senior High School (MA) participated in disaster training and simulation sessions, including understanding vulnerable groups, the importance of not panicking during a disaster, and the key principle in disaster relief: "Save yourself while helping others survive." Furthermore, participants were encouraged to develop mitigation action plans within the school environment through biopores, reforestation, waste recycling, drainage cleaning, and integration into the Disaster Safe Education Unit (SPAB) program.
Through this program, it is hoped that students and educators will have increased capacity to understand disaster risks in their surroundings, learn proper evacuation steps, and be able to play an active role in disaster risk reduction efforts at school and in the community.
As part of the national geothermal energy company, PGE Kamojang continues to integrate geothermal operations with community empowerment programs that align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
